Anyway, some good reading on our group blog, check it out. I also want to use this post to put a few stats up that I have writen down and don't want to lose. These are stats that an insturctor that gave me lessons claimed were about right for a winning player.

Won $ when saw flop (W$SF) 40% normal over 45% very good
Went to show down (WSD) 25% normal over 30% too high
Won $ At SD 53 to 55% normal
Fold to Blind steals around 75%
Att. To steal blinds 30%

My stats are right on for all of these except the blind steals, I fold to steals about 85% and attempt about 25%. Not to worried about improving that one just yet. I think there are other more profitable points to improve on first.

I'm going to post my hands on CR now, in ML and LL since I'm playing both 100 and 200NL this month. My blog will mostly consist of ideas that will lead up to my writings on subjects through our new group blog.

Discussed cbetting with Dodgyken, he had some basic guidlines to start with which are helping with 100 to 200 transition. At 100 I cbet at 95% with success, (although that is still too much).
At 200NL it does not work at all....so I started with these basics until I got good reads on opponenets. These are for cbetting without hitting the flop or a draw.....

1. Cbet spread flops....such as K83 rainbow
2. Cbet opponents that fold to cbets over 66%
3. Don't Cbet into more than one caller

Now I want to work on changing my cbets when I do hit. Maybe check rather than cbet about 20% of flops I do hit that are not too drawy. I need to think and look into that one more.

My first night at 200NL I was killed on cbet/folds, and had 3 huge hands cracked, so I was worried a bit about cbetting. Tonight ,(2nd night at 200), I controled my cbets more, and didn't miss EVERY flop. So things went fine. My overall on 200NL is down $13 after 1300 hands after 2 days, (still playing 1/2 hands at 100NL).

I have a goal of learing 1 new thing a day, today it was cbetting guidlines that work well at 200NL prior to opponent reads.......Thanks Martin.

The stats above are from my PC, 6max tables are FTP. The stats that are not labeled 6 max are from AP and actually are 6 max games, PT doesn't see that for some reason........Noel you know how to change that?

The below stats are the stats off my laptop (to lazy to fix, won't seem to come up....+370 over 400 hands)

On the 11th of July I was down over $2220 after a shot at 200nl, so to end up where I did doesn't suck I guess. I'm a little dissapointed with my month, but very pleased with the last 2 weeks where I was able to run just shy of 6BB/100. The nice thing is all the rake back and reload bonuses I got in July for a grand total of $2050. I lost a little money in donkaments and PLO plus paid for some lesson, I had a bottom line of plus 1607 to the BR.

AUGUST GOALS:

1. Try some 200nl again.

2. 50K hands

The FR was a good time, and since me or Noel didn't win, it just went to prove......anyone can win a tournament :)

Here's a rundown of key hands

Rasputin was first out when his KK could not crack Dwarriors AA

MirroRobin went out 7th when his AK could not improve vs Noel's JJ

I exited 6th on the only elimination that was not all in PF when Apple min raised with K8o, I called from the BB with 76o. The flop came 876, I lead with a little over 1/2 pot and called Apples all in. Turn was K and river T. I played like shit on this hand, but really had Apple doing this with AK or AQ........what do I know?

Johathan was out next when his desperate short stack couldn't beat Ken's KK.

After taking a bad beat, Noel double up once with A4 vs K9 only to end up getting knocked out on the bubble when his A6 was beat by K9 of Ken.

Dwarrior exited 3rd when he found himself all in with AJ vs Apple's JT. Apple made a straight on the turn and rivered a flush to top it off.

Kens luck ran out when his 46 couldn't hit vs Apples KQ with a flop of 37A......turn 8, river 3......Apple wins.

Played till 1am Friday night, I ran ok at 100nl, great at 200nl, and followed one player that was clueless from the 200nl to a 400nl table and took his last few hundred......beat all 3 limits for a good night.

I planned on spending the next few days working on my 3bet and 4bet game......more importantly the 3 betting. Then I was going to write an article that gave my findings and thoughts. The only problem is, Noel beat me to it.

You must read this, it is everything I wanted to write and more. Understanding and working this into your game is going to make a larger difference in your win rate then anything you can learn.....at least for players like us.

I'm taking 3 days off from blogging and wanted to say I'm sorry up front. I've tried to be a daily active member of our group, but I have a few things that I'm commiting too until Thursday.

I will still be playing daily, (maybe not Wed). This includes a sweat session with Noel, (skype me for timing), some lessons with Adam, (Dodyken is he any good?), and more research and testing of different 3 and 4 betting than I usually do. Then Wednesday I'm going boating and getting drunk.....if you see me playing Wed night, I should be drunk and easy to beat.........go for it, rather you guys get it than some other unknown------just don't get mad if I suck out with some crappy call I make :)

Ok I wanted to study today about 3 and 4 betting. I did read as much as I could find, I watched a few CR vids, and tried to filter through my stats on PT. I put about 4 hours into this and I'm beat.

I need to get holdemmanger.net, it filters info such as 3 and 4 betting info that PT doesn't. Then with that info, the info I've read, and some playing experiments I can then post my results and thoughts on this subject.

So give me a few more days, but I plan on putting out a well thought out report, and want to get into some good discussion about it.

I had a slow session last night. 1209 hands, but never hit anything and my cbets were getting called everytime so I had to let off a little. Ended up winning a little which I feel is good for the way the night was going.

Took another shot a some 200NL last night. I was only going to play 2 tables since I was also sweating my wife as she played some $50nl on FTP. My wife was watching and on the turn she said "I bet he made a flush, you've got him now" and I replied "No, he has JJ or QQ".......then I lead when the river is a Q. Should I have check call this river?

I lost $392 on this hand, but only ended up down $220 after a 441 hand session, so things went well outside this hand.

Earlier yesterday I was setup and ready to do about a 1500 hand 4 table session of 100NL but I had to cut myself off on hand 446. I was on a really bad where I ended up down about 3 buyins which is huge on AP with 200BB buyins. I caught myself starting to tilt and quit for some review. I determined that I lost $346 to normal play and $287 to bad calls due to tilt.

I was pissed about my fisrt loss at the 100NL which was a huge suckout against me, then I started playing bad and lost due to that. But when I lost with the hand later that night that is posted above, it didn't bother me one bit and I didn't tilt or make one bad play afterwords, and proceeded to make a small comeback.

The reason for that is I NEVER tilt when someone is watching me. My wife seeing that hand kept me inline. She went nuts and I just said, "it happens, no big deal, we are playing for the long run". But I trully believe I would have tilted if I was sitting here alone when that hand went down. For some reason it is so much eaiser to play correct when someone is watching me......I need to figure out how to force myself to play that way even when I'm alone. I usually do, but not always.........and not always is not good enough for me.

I'm back from Vegas

I went to Vegas for the weekend, (only 2 hours from my home), with the intention of playing. I left Friday night instead of Thursday. We got settled in about 10pm but I still wanted to go play a little, so I headed over to The Sunset Station. It's only 5 minutes from the house in Henderson, and they always have a good 1/3 NL game going with a 300 buy in. I usually play higher at live games, but this is a good game for me when I'm tired, (I went to work at 4am that day).

I got a seat pretty fast, and right away started my usual image building. I like to go in looking like some kinda know-it-all punk when I play low limits. With in 1 hour everyone was gunning to bust me rather than playing their normal game. I normally crush this game when I play it, but this is the first time I've played live since joining CR and learning everything new over last few monts. I had some lucky suckouts happen against me, but still ended up winning $182 in 3 hours which is only about 100 hands. I feel prior to CR and working on my game like I do now, this would have been a break even night.

Saturday we had a big BBQ at a friends house, and before I knew it the sun was coming up Sunday morning. I did win $12 playing 25 cent 2 Card Guts, (if you don't know how to play it, let me know, it rules). Slept a little and headed home Sunday afternoon.

I'm back from work for today, going to take a nap. I'll be on checking everyones blogs and playing some tonight.

I'm on my way over to Absolute for a while. I cashed all my PS money and set up a new AP account with rake back. Thanks to some great advice from Noel, I will be getting better rakeback, more bonuses, and more donks at my table on AP.

Just for fun I pulled up my old AP account and saw it had $20 on it. I had just come off a 1200 hand session on FTP and was getting ready to watch a movie, so I flipped on the laptop and messed with my $20 for a few hours. Played some .10/.25 and I was shocked. I think my 8 yr old would have cleaned them out. I turned my 20 into 140 in the 90 mins the movie was on. I didn't run PT while playing, but here is recap of what I'm talking about.

AP's software sucks, but I love the site now.

I checked this turn hoping a T or J with big kicker would bet out. Is that really bad? Am I missing value here? Should I bet more or less on river? I don't think I'm getting full value from my big hands.

Yesterday Noel commented to one of my posts......felt like my dad yelling at me. But it was just what I needed. I got ahold of him on AIM and he got me links to all kinds of great 2p2 threads that I really needed to read.

I played a quick 1000 hands and it felt great. I went in with the confidence I needed and usually have, and with some new ammo from the threads. I'm working on trying to take down pots that are stealable a little bit more, and 3 betting from position quite a bit more plus opening up my BTN/CO range.

Then I did a sweat session with him, I watched him play for about 2 hours. I saw him doing a lot of what I'm trying to add to my game and it was working very well for him. I was very very tired when we did the session, but I think I got more from that session than I do from most CR videos and look forward to doing more.

Thanks Noel. I only hope I can help you someday as much as you've helped me.

I really want to find hands to post, but I just haven't had any questionable situations at all lately. I would hope this means I'm improving and the hard decisions just seem easy to me, but my results suggest otherwise.

In the last 6 days I've posted a loss everyday for a total of over 13 buy ins, (215 went to sunday PS million). This is a different lossing streak than I've gone on before. It's lasting longer and I think I know why.

I'm playing many more hands than I used to, and considering trying to play for living money.....not just for fun. I think the preasure is getting to me, so when I lose, I try to hard to win next time and make bad plays. After studing PT for a few hours, I think about 1/2 my losses could have been avoidable with better play. Not perfect play which I never have, but just better play. I have taken a few crappy beats, but that's expected. I just need to control myself to play better.

I'm moving back to 100NL starting today, and going down to 4 tables for now. This will make my 60K hand goal unreachable, but my new goal is to work on controling my losing streaks better. I see a few other members are posting some bad weeks also, so lets get through this together.

What kind of swings to you have?

After 6 days of 200NL, I'm down 2 buyins now after starting 6 buyins up. Lost a total of 8 buyins over last 3 days and 8000 hands. I see from many CR and 2p2 posts, that up to 10BI swings are normal. I have had a 10BI down swing in 100NL last month, and still ended up doing quite well for the month, so I'm not ready to give up yet.

Anyway, I'm on track so far for making 60K hands this month. I cant seem to get Pokerhand.org to work right now. So later I'll comment on posts and post 2 of my own from last night.

Would like to hear comments on the swings though. What do you consider a large swing and how often do you have them? Plus and minus. I define a swing as long term loss or gain without any noticable change in the other direction.

My biggest lossing swing was 10BI over 2000 hands, and my largest winning swing was 12BI over 3000 hands. I seem to have 3 to 4BI down swings and 4 to 5BI up swings often. This is taken from all my 100nl and 200nl over 60K hands, (since I got PT).

Not looking so good so far.

Slipped in 3500 hands between last night and so far today. I'm down 4 buy ins in that period. I've studied PT for last 2 hours. I did find 3 hands that I made bad plays on that account for 2 buyins worth of losses. That can't be too bad over 10,000 hands, but I still need to work on my game obviously.

Here's 2 hands that I really don't know if I played bad or not.

I post that I'm taking the day off due to wife's demand. Dodgyken says to get my priorities straight and poker>wife. So I take his advice and play 1700 hands yesterday and lose a buyin. Thanks a lot :)

Wait..........wait..........ok...I'm over it.

Anyway, was pretty happy overall since I was down 4 buyins after first 300 hands. Got almost all of it back off one donk that was sitting on my right with over 3 buyins. Was actually up a few bucks, and at 9pm I hear this from behind me, "daddy, can we go watch the fireworks?". Well of course, let me finish this orbit.........$80 up turns to $200 down in next 3 hands. We've all been there. I never not finished an orbit unless I'm on tilt, but I hate when this happens. Gotta keep telling myself, "one big game, little swings either way can't change my play".

No hands to post again, but I will be checking others today.

It's the 4th of July which is also my father-in-laws birthday. So the wife says we are spending day at their house. Was tired last night and slipped in about 400 hands and won 1/2 a buyin at 200nl on Stars. FTP was lagging really bad for me, anyone else have that problem. Be back on the 5th.

I will be checking/commenting on everyones hands later today, but not posting one of my own. Everything went so smooth yesterday, no hands got me thinking.

Played 2000 hands 200NL and made just over 2 buyins. I really like the play at 200NL better than 100NL, it seems to fit my style more. I may be a bit too nitty, but I keep winning, so I don't want to loosen up just yet. I'm running 14/12/4 so far at 200NL with 4400 hands.

Results from hand yesterday, I called, he had pocket 6's, I win. I think I did play that hand too scared though. Wish I would have been more aggro on turn.

Also, I just got an update on my rakeback. I made $190 last month and will be adding that to my BR when I get it on the 15th. Last month was my first month using a rakeback account, so I'm excited about that. With the amount of hands I'm playing and moving to 200NL, I should make 5 times that this month. Rakeback is a must have.

Started the month out with some 200NL

I decided to start playing 200NL more this month and have a goal of 60K hands with at least half at 200NL. Things went well yesterday. Played 2403 hands at 200NL and up a little over $700. I didn't notice much difference in the play post flop, but preflop was a little more aggressive than 100NL. There was just as many bad players at each table. The biggest difference was my play, and I need to watch this closely. I found myself betting the turn and river too weak compared to the pot size. I also found myself folding to a 3 bet preflop when OOP, this I think helped me.

I'll be back later after work to review hands and have 2 to post myself.

Ready to start July Grinders

As you can see to the right, I have a list of members for my July Ginders. If your name is not there, and you planned on me being part of you group. Please just respond to this post with your name and I will add you. I will be limited to 9 members, so I have room for a few more right now. I will be posting and responding to 3 hands max per member. I should be online for 25 to 28 days this July.

I'm having a lot of people here for the weekend, and will be doing a lot of boating, bbq, and drinking. So please expect no word from me today, and most likely Sunday. I may not play Sunday July 1st, but I will try to get on at the end of the day and review hand posts of members in my list.

I will not be posting any replys to members that are not active in serious review of my posts also. I have a very big goal for July to meet, so I will be taking my time very serious. So I will dedicate good time to those doing the same, and hope we can have a great month together. I don't expect replys from everyone daily, but do expect at least 3 replys a week from each member.

Remember also, that the reason for this is to discuss and help each other. My views are never to be taken as right or wrong, they are only my opinion. I will also be looking at your reviews in the same light.

I am also interested in doing some rail sessions with players that are playing 100NL or higher. Please email me at theblitz07@gmail.com and we can discuss this. Anyone interested in AIM/MSN can email me for my name, but I will not be posting that otherwise.

I spent most of the day on the boat today, and drank lots of beer. So knowing how bad I play when drunk, I will win by not playing.

First, I run out of material on a job that has a deadline to be finished in a few days. More custom order material.......2 weeks back ordered.

Second, a house I sold was to close today. Customer backs out at last second. Well at least I get to keep his 5K deposit, but I could have left home on market and sold it to someone else by now.

Third, I play poker today. Lose 5 buy ins in about 800 hands. I've lost this much before when I didn't play well, but today I played great. Early on I was getting NO respect and getting 3 bet nonstop. No problem, changed up and only played strong hands. Well that didn't work. It was a nonstop night of flopping nuts only to be outdrawn on. Sigh...... I did post one hand in CR that I couldn't decide if I should call an all in or not, but otherwise cut and dry sets beat by flush draws, AA beat by A6.......what you've already heard this story? Fine, I'll quit crying.

Forth, I decide life is not worth living today after all the BS. I take my truck out to suicide cliff, point it towards a 100 ft drop off and hit the gas. I'm hauling ass towards certain death, and I run out of gas and the truck stops 1 foot from the edge. I get out and push the truck the last foot and over the cliff, but forgot to jump back in the truck when it went over to complete my mission. So now I had to walk 10 miles back home.

Well, 3 of these 4 things really happened. I'm going to go spend time with the family now. Hope tomorrow goes better. I'll make sure the gas tanks full :)

My softerware and setup.

I have a few minutes while I wait for a meeting, so I'm going to list a few things to let you know about my setup and software.

The hardware setup as pitured yesterday, is just an HP with the addition of extra monitors. One monitor plugged into origianl slot, other 2 plugged into a new graphics card wtih dual monitor capabilites. Monitors are 21" Envisions that sell for about $280 and the card was $69 all from Staples.

For software, I use Poker Tracker and PokerAceHud of course.

In addition, I use the following software:

Idleminer : datamines FTP while you are not playing, I datamine talbes for at least an hour or 2 before I play and select my tables off those stats.

PokerStove: works great for hand review, tells you odds of hands vs hand or even hand vs a range.

Sixth sense: Don't use it much, but if I haven't been datamining and want to play now I turn it on to help with table selection.

Poker Grapher: Just got this today as referd to me by Jethro87, but I already love it.

Digital Post-It Notes: This is a digital version of 3M's Post-Its, go to the website for 30 day free trial. I use it for table notes, not player notes. For instance, if I get called down on a bluff and look overly LAG or just plain donkish, I'll post note next to the table to remind me to have a hand next time I goto show down at that table. It's very helpful when mult-tabling.

www.mypokerintel.com : I don't play on UB much , (games seem hard to beat there for me), but when I do this program works great for finding a good table, or to just pull stats on a players.

www.pokerhand.org : please use this for hand posting, it's quick, easy, free, and you will get a lot more response from you posting if you use this

Itunes: don't play poker without music, it's very unheathly. I swear I play a lot better to some tunes.

www.ncpgambling.org : haven't used this one yet, but my in-laws think I should try it out

Learning to graph and huge goals.

I would like to thank CR members ThaC and Jethro87 for their help. So I'm posting a graph that is of my 100NL 6max play. Nothing much to see except that I suck, and have too many large down swings. Well, that's why I'm in CR. I have much to learn.

Looks like it worked. The top one is an uploaded pic, and the bottom is a link I set up. Guess I don't know the difference in why I should do one over the other.

Check ths out. I've set some rediculous goals for myself for the rest of the year. I own a construction company, and business is very slow right now. So I'm finish up the prodjects I have by end of July, then I'm going to try and play full time for rest of year.

July: still have work to do, and commited to Grinders Community. But still going to play 60,000 hands of partial 100NL and 200NL.

August thru October: 100,000 hands each month starting with 200NL and hope to be at 400NL in this time period.

November and December: 75,000 hands each month at 400NL.

I have a scedule worked out that allows me to meet those goals in less hours than I work + play poker in now. I know this is a steep goal, but what the hell, I'm going to try it anyway. I'll post weekly updates on my progress.

No play so far today, post BR after I play.

The rest of my entries for June will be for the sake of testing. I'm going to post a few graphs and hands just to get it down. I want to be 100% ready for grinder community.

I have a new term for my current poker play. "Dealt Again Player" This refers to my new approach and study of the game that has offically started on May 2, 2007. I'd like to thank Born Again Christians for the idea :) I will be refering to this as DAP in my blog.

I also thought of a new comeback and can't wait to use it. Please use it if you get the chance. Here it is.....next time someone, (ecspecially a nonpoker player), says to you "you've gotta play the hand you're dealt".....respond with "No I don't, I have to figure out the hand everyone else was dealt and play accordingly". A little corney, but image the look of dumbness that will overcome their face when you say it..........can't wait.

Ok here is a hand posting test. No need for commet, this was just a fun hand from the days pre-DAP when I played higher limit full ring games.

The first thing you should know about me is that I can't spell worth a shit, and I don't care enough to check it.

A little about me now. I go by JW, don't as why, I'm 34 years old and married to the most wonderfull woman in the world. We have 4 awesome kids, and they all support me 100% in my poker.

This runs a little long........sorry, they'll be short from this point on.

I learned poker on the kitchen table at the age of 11, but started to play at 18 in college. I played a live 25 cent limit stud game with friends and always made money at it. I wasn't that good, but they were all that bad. I learned that poker could be beat in math class during a review on probablities. I was always involved in weekly home games that I had no problem beating for $30 to $40. It was just fun to me and the money was just a side benefit.

After Rounders came out, I decided that I wanted to learn Holdem. A local casino had 1 Holdem table running at the time, (same table Kathy Leibert learned on in Colorado), and I started getting my ass kicked right away. I found a few books, and in a year was doing quite well in that game which was a 2-5 spread limit.

I moved to an area that has plenty of casinos, and is less than 3 hours from Vegas. Started to work my way up the limits over the years. I kept records of win/loss and hours played. For quite sometime I had beating live limits up to 30/60, but mostly 10/20. Remember, this is all Limit play.

During all this I was introduced to online poker in 2001 and took to the Limit games very well. I started at 3/6 and moved up in limits quick to the point of beating 30/60 on Party and Stars. I cashed out enough to buy things and travel when I wanted, have had a regular job this whole time to pay bills. Took 5th in a big Sunday tourney on Party once for over a 30K payday, but never had any real tourney success beyond that, and sucked at NL play.

Towards the end of 2006 I started having a real hard time beating the game. I was not keeping any stats of my online play, so I'm not sure if the game was getting tougher or I was just running bad. Either way, I decided it was time for another poker paid vacation before I went broke. Me and my wife went down to the Bahamas last Dec for a WPT Poker Bootcamp, which sucked to be honest with you, BUT........this is where it all beagn.

The cash games at the casino were NL only. I have dabbled in NL cash games a litte, but always lost. Now I had no choice, so I sat down. There were many pros there to do the teaching for the boot camp. I took a seat at the 5/10 NL game which was the biggest they had, but way over my head probably. Soon I'm sitting at a 9 seated table that includes Jen Tilly, Phil Laak, Chip Jett, and Gavin Smith. There is no buy in cap and I was the short stack with 2K in chips. The only key hand I played was my AA vs and unknown holding KK, we got all in preflop and it held for the largest pot I have every won. I never got too involved with any of the big name players at the table, but I watched them very close.

To be honest with you, I only learned anything from Phils play. What I learned from watching him was amazing. The things he did just made sense, even though they seemed silly and stupid to the naked eye. I did bluff him off one hand that he was he trying to bluff me off of.....was really just a lucky guess on my part. I walked away from that table with $3400 profit and a new love for NL. I have not played a single hand of Limit since that day.

I came home and jumped into 1000nl on FT right away in full ring games and did very well. Plus 10K in one month, (which I now contribute to just running very well). I then took my BR to 2000nl, but they only had 6 max tables.....no problem right? Wrong!!!!!!!!!! My 20K online BR was gone in 2 days. Holy shit those guys are bunch of idiots that don't care about money.........No they kicked my ass because I had no idea what I was doing.

I took a few months off from online poker. Went to 2 WPT events to just play cash games and did very very well again.......I can't believe how much easier B&M cash games are. Played mostly 3/5NL and a little 10/20NL to build my BR back up. (btw I keep 2 BR's, one online, and one for live games). Then I took a few K and put it online with a new goal. I want to beat 6 max games.

I joined Cardrunners, got PokerTracker, PokerAceHUD, and PokerStove then started to study. I felt my game was good enought to start at 100NL, and I was winning, but not good enought. So I studied more, had a Low Limit Guest Pro from CR come over for a live lesson, and plug my worst leaks. I'm at 20K hands since the lesson, and at 5 ptBB/100 now at 100NL 6max. I feel I have lots of room to improve, and now spend at least 30 minutes before and after every session on CR or in PT to help me move forward.

My goal now is to move up in limits as quick as I can. In July I will play 50/50 100nl and 200nl. By the end of the year I want to be playing 600nl as my main game with the intent of moving into 1000nl early next year with an online BR of $30,000. I will not be adding to my BR online. I know this seems quick, but I think I can do it.

My next move is to be part of the CR Grinders Community and I'm very excited about that. I look forward to more in depth descusion with fellow grinders.

I would like to thank CR member peterpjames for his actions in starting the Grinders Community. I hope it works out for everyone involved. This is just a hello/test entry. More to follow soon.
